What to do and see in Zaragoza

History of Zaragoza, capital of Aragon, was marked by two heroic and bloody event. Much of the city was rebuilt in the 19th century, due to the severe damage that occurred during the war for independence. Buildings of this town are not very attractive but the historical part of the city is really worth a visit visitors coming back for centuries and centuries ago.

1. Zaragoza Cathedral

Cathedral of the city encompasses a range of architectural styles from Romanesque to Shurigere, but the Gothic style dominates this extraordinary cathedral. Gothic altarpiece, which is above the high altar is very striking and impressive, the whole cathedral is full of extraordinary things, and it really is a real privilege to visit such a place. Cathedral has a nice collection of tapestries and the dome of the 15th century.

3. Tapestry Museum

The Cathedral of Zaragoza is a remarkable museum where you can see a collection of 60 gothic tapestry displayed in a rotating window. The exhibits include sailing, crucifixion and passion. Tapestries are French and Flemish origin and Arasu.

5. Our Lady of the Pillar

This is the second cathedral in Zaragoza, designed by Francisco Herrera Jr. in about 1677, and it is a monument, a cathedral and a masterpiece in one. The whole complex is a large rectangle with four towers decorated with beautiful facade. In the heart of the complex is a dome decorated with frescoes of exceptional beauty. The colorful complex that is worth a visit.

2. Palacio de la Aljafería

Arab palace from the 11th century built by Bennihud family Aljaferia palace was renovated for the King of Aragon and later by Catholic monks. Later the palace was used as a barracks which is partly contributed to its destruction. The palace is rich lavish decorations, arches, emergency lanes and the environment is in extremely good condition.

Same ss Valencia, Barcelona, Palma and other market towns in the kingdom of Aragon, Zaragoza was a city of trade and exchange of goods in the 16th century. These buildings, mainly in Gothic style, is counted among the most beautiful civilian buildings in Spain.

Zaragoza has improved its position in 2008 in the "World Expo" and it is now a great place for tourists around world. Festival "El Pilar" which is held every year reminds us what the significance of faith really is in this city.
