Viseu is a city of 99,500 inhabitants in the central part of Portugal. The city has its origins from the times of the Roman Empire.

It accommodates the famous altars and other works of renowned artists Vasco Fernandes, one of the best Portuguese Renaissance painters, known under the pseudonym Grao Vasco . The Museum also contains a fine collection of carved and painted baroque figurines and other religious objects. Entrance to the museum is free on Sundays in the morning.

Museum of Mercy is located next to the Church of Our Lady . This museum is worth the post office, if only because the upper corridor linking the museum and which offers a magnificent view of the church. The museum is located on both sides of the church, and contain a rich exhibition of oil paintings and religious artifacts. Some pictures show religious scenes and portraits of other church benefactors.

Its rich history is a reason which is why in this area there are many historical buildings and monuments. That's why this city is a very popular tourist locations in this part of Portugal.
