Things to do in Toyama

Toyama is the capital city of Toyama Prefecture, Japan, spotted on the bank of the Sea of Japan in the Chubu area on Honshu. It is located 200 km north of the city of Nagoya and 300 km northwest of Tokyo. Toyama was the capital of Etchu Province. City was consolidated on April 1, 1889. The city was created and prospered as a city on the Tateyama Kurobe Route. Throughout the years, the city was known as a town of pharmaceuticals. Toyama City is rich with nature, with water and greenery. The city confronts the heavenly Tateyama Mountain Range in the east and Toyama Bay, which is known as the treasury of fish, in the north. 1. Toyama Castle

Toyama Castle

Toyama Castle was called Azumi Castle, is a castle from 1543. In 1581, Sassa Narimasa, a retainer of Oda Nobunaga build this castle. In Honnoji Incident, castle was ruined. Maeda Toshinaga later remade the castle and briefly utilized it as his retirement home until much of it torched in 1609. In 1661 Maeda Toshitsugu reconstructed the mansion again and made it his home. After 1945, it was modified as a famous structure in 1954. These days, the palace remains were redesigned as the Toyama Castle Park.

3. Fugan Unga Kansui Park

Fugan Unga Kansui Park

Fugan Unga Kansui Park is a waterfront park with columns of cherry trees. This park is a space that has historical background. Cherry trees is displayed on tracks where people can walk and admire. On a fine day, the scene seen from the recreation center is so glorious. There is also recreation center that is open late in the night.

5. Ushidake Onsen Ski Resort

Ushidake Onsen in Japan is a ski resort with 6 ski lifts that offers skiers a great 500 meters track. Ushidake Onsen has four tracks and it is best suited for middle skiers and snowboarders. It is great experience for everybody.

2. Museum of Modern Art

Museum of Modern Art, Toyama is placed in the corner of Johnan Park close to the centre of town. The building is encompassed with the beautiful greenery in the recreation center. Since its opening in July 1981, the storehouse has picked up so many visits to Toyama Prefecture. In April 2003, the four new rooms have made as historical center with amazing works of art. from eighteenth century up to the present time.

4. Botanic Gardens of Toyama

Botanic Gardens of Toyama

Botanic Gardens of Toyama started in 1989. The arrangements initially opened to the general population in 1993, with renovation following in 1996 and 2000. Today the enclosures hold about 5,000 Japanese plant species. Remarkable accumulations incorporate plants of the Japan Sea coast and of Yunnan, China, and tropical and subtropical plants. It has fragrant plants, bloom shows, clematis, waterfront plants and plants of low-height fields and bogs, and a woods of chestnuts and Japanese oaks, and so on. Nurseries incorporate a tropical plant house, orchid house, tropical soil grown foods house, Alpine plant house etc.

Toyama is rich in nature, and people can enjoy so many things to see each one season. The world-acclaimed Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is a must see, as long as Kurobe Valley, Unazuki-onsen and Zuiryu-ji Temple.
