Taverny is a nice looking French town which is located in the Val-d'Oise department and in the Ile-de-France region. This is a small town with not more then twenty six and a half thousand inhabitants.

Grande arche de la defense is located very near Taverny. It was built by Danish architect Otto van Spreckelsen in 1989. Its spectacular architecture was a daring technical achievement when it was designed and built by the best French engineering company. The Grande Arche is completely white and is a one hundred and six meters high cube. It is constructed of a pre-stressed concrete frame which was covered with Italian glass and marble.

The chapel called The Ecce Homo was financed and built by the wife of Francis Pollalion. This congregation is presently a piece of the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. The Latin words Ecce Homo used Pontius Pilate to describe Jesus Christ, bound and delegated on the cross. The congregation holds one curve of a Roman door, which has a further curve crossing the Via Dolorosa outside. There was initially a third curve to the door, on the opposite side of the road.

Notre Dame of the Assumption (church of the Blessed Mary the Virgin) is located in the central area of the town, in 11, rue Jean XXIII. It is a beautiful Gothic style church. It was built somewhere in the thirteenth century.

Taverny is located only twenty kilometers from the center of Paris and is very well connected with it by the fast railways (there are two railway stations in the town), that makes Taverny an ideal staying location if you want to explore the Paris. Of course, Taverny has its own interesting sights that it can offer to visitors.
