Must do and see in Schwedt

Schwedt is a town in the district of Uckermark. It is the largest non-independent city in Brandenburg. It is one of the area's largest local authorities in Germany. It has the status of a great district town. In 2008, Schwedt was awarded as the first city of the title National Park city. Things to do here are:

1. The Uckermärkischen stage of Schwedt

The Uckermärkischen stage of Schwedt

The Uckermärkischen stage of Schwedt is a theater with an extended shows funded by the state of Brandenburg. Frederick Henry had erected operetta theater in 1800. Since then, this is a place where creme de la creme gathers every week. It is home to many popular theater displays and operas in the world. Its actors and singers are well respected.

3. The water tower of Schwedt

The water tower of Schwedt

The water tower of Schwedt is part of the former water mill with its factory buildings such as the well, defroster and the pump station. It was built in 1911. Since the water plant was no longer sufficient for the rapidly increasing demand, 1965 has stopped to operate. The water tower is located at the southern end of Schwedt.

5. Tobacco museum

This museum is located in the district of Schwedt Vierraden. In a former tobacco drying shed the cultural history of tobacco grows. Tobacco trade and the processing are presented. However, the area Non smoking also shows the health consequences of tobacco use. A large outdoor area with old farm implements, machines is very interesting and amusing. The exhibition is labeled in English and Polish.

With the development of Schwedt an industrial city, theater tradition in the city was created. At the site of the former Castle Margrave of Schwedt, the House of Culture was erected. The selection of theater, entertainment and event services use annually about 145,000 spectators and guests.

4. Saint Assumption

Saint Assumption

Saint Assumption is the Catholic parish church and it was built in 1898. A Catholic parish was established in Schwedt after the Reformation. It consisted of only a few local families as well as the Catholic garrison members. At the edge of the old town garden restaurant was purchased. Max Hasak designed the church in the Gothic Revival style of the north German brick gothic.

Since many years ago, Schwedt was well known for its interesting monuments and brand new sites to see.
