Here is the first engineering regiment. In the night between 24 and 25 April 1974 command was set to post of the Movement of the Armed Forces with whom they coordinated field operations of the revolutionary movement that came to power in democracy in Portugal , putting an end to half a century of dictatorship. This center was created in the honor of 25 April 2001. The museum was created to better explain one of the most important episodes in the history of this country in the twentieth century.

With an area of 25 hectares, Pinhal da Paia is one of the largest forested parks in the district Mainooth. On the other hand, there has been some investment in outdoor sports equipment such as adventure park that has installed wood for climbing, and other devices designed for physical activity.

Botanical Gardens opened in March 2009 , and has more than 6,000 plants including specimens of 50 native species typical of the Lisbon region.

This set of twelve stained glass was made in 1954 by Julio Pomar . Scenes of the stained glass windows in the church arranged to describe the holy family, the two archangels (Michael and Raphael) and nine saints (St. John , St. Anthony, St. Rita, St. Philemon, St. Cecilia, St. Elizabeth, St. Joseph, St. Peter, and John the Baptist) . All visitors agree with the assessment of spiritual power that these settings embody the true spirit of this place.

The museum is located on the hill which is now Old Garden Gertrude . Laureana windmill was built in the second quarter of the eighteenth century . This building is a perfect example of the historical course of action windmill, the golden period in which the district Mainooth had 60 such windmills, to a state of complete degradation and abandonment. Windmill has been completely repaired in 2001 by the municipality Mainooth . The windmill can be visited by prior application at the City Hall .

This area is known as for its historical landmarks, and beauty of nature that surrounds it .
