The city is usually called City of Mary, a Mount Royal, triple peak hill that is located in the heart of the city. Things to do in Montreal, second largest city in Canada are numerous and here are top five attractions by editor's choice.

1. Notre Dame Basilica

This is the oldest Catholic church in the whole Montreal, it was built in 1656. The basilica is made in Gothic style and very impressive is the crypt. It is open for visitors every day from 8 am to 4,30 pm, entrance is free but donations are more than welcome. It is interesting that taking photos in allowed in the church. The basilica is a real archeological and religious treasure.

3. Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

When you visit this museum be prepared for the more than 3 hours visit. This is one of the most famous museums in the whole Canada, it has wide collections of Canadian and contemporary exhibits. You can enjoy guided tours, audio guides, different movies, workshops and courses and lectures. This is also the place where many concerts of classical music are held. The ticket prices depends of the tour you select or on the concert you choose to see.

5. Old Montreal

Visitors can enjoy horse drawn carriage, then visit several art galleries in the old town, as well as museums and shops and in the end enjoy the local food in stylish restaurants. This is actually historic city centre and the entrance is free of charge.

This is one of the most amazing things you can visit in Montreal. It is made in collaboration with Botanical Garden of Montreal, A Space For Life and every year is held from June to September. There are about 50 participants from 30 countries and every year they have a different subject they make plant sculptures by. The required plants must be bought in Montreal.

4. Mount Royal

If you like walking as an activity, you are in the right place. This is hill about 235 meters high and it is situated right in the centre of the city. It is referred to as mountain to locals and it is great area for recreational activities as well as the place where from the whole city can be seen. It is great for hiking both in summer and winter. If you have mobility problem, there is a bus that drives to the top.

This city is often called Canada's Cultural Capital. No wonder things to do in Montreal are fun end enjoyable for every person, no matter an adult or a kid.
