What to do and see in Madrid

1. Museo Thyssen - Bornemisza

Museum which was renovated by Rafael Moneo is an extraordinary collection of art works that have been donated to Spain by Baron Thyssen. The collection is an opportunity to explore the art of the late 12th century to today. You can see the works of great artists such as Duccio di Buoninsegna, Roy Lichtenstein, Holbein, Carpaccio, Cranach, Rubens, Gainsborough, Courbet, Gauguin, Cezanne and Magritte, and lots of others too!

3. Museo del Prado

Possession of the Prado museum is an opportunity to see the extraordinary artwork of the Spanish and European origin. Great works, such as "Las Meninas", "The Majas and Executions at Moncloa", etc. The museum also contains a collection of Flemish and Italian paintings from the 15th and 17th centuries. After five years of upgrades Prado museum has doubled as allow more space for the exhibition of these extraordinary works.

5. Royal Armoury

If you are in love with weapons this is the right destination for you, a museum of weapons that was made by the Catholic Kings, Charles the fifth and Philip II. If you are not interested in guns we still recommend you to visit this museum because it will overwhelm you.

2. Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía

This modern museum occupies a building which was once the San Carlos Hospital. In this museum you can find a collection of great artists and works, and sculptures from the 20th century . The museum was expanded 2004th year by the French architect Jean Nouvel and is now a part of the exhibition. In addition to the great works of Picasso , you can also see the works of other famous artists such as Gris , Miró , Dalí, Tàpies , Lopez - Garcia and many others.

4. Zoo -Aquarium

The zoo covers an area of 20 hectares and is located in the heart of the Casa de Campo. The zoo is excellent and contains over 3000 species of animals within it. Zoo has a huge aquarium that displays various types of fish, there is also a special section where you can see many species of exotic birds. This is one of the finest zoos in Europe.

In recent decades, the city has seen a tremendous development and has become one of the major tourist destination.
