Things to see in Landshut

Landshut is a city that belongs to both Eastern and Southern Bavaria to. It is the seat of the government of Lower Bavaria and the district of Lower Bavaria. In addition, the city is the administrative center of the district of Landshut. It has more than 65,000 inhabitants. It is ranked twelve in the Germany. Landshut is the center of the northeastern Metropolitan Region.

1. Alter Bahnhof Landshut

In 1857, first railway station was build here, the old train station in Landshut was built as part of the Munich-Regensburg. From its existence it is a reminder of former station building. In 1854, the work began on the future station area, which was located just outside the city. Buildings were built under the direction of Simon Pausinger. The entire site was surrounded by a fence.

3. The Mill Island

The Mill Island

The Mill Island is an island in Landshut, between the right side and the left side of Isar river. It is used as a recreational area.You can watch Mill gardens from a restaurant, or take a walk in the park with a lawn used as roof. Landshut city center can be reached in less than five minutes. From the aerial view you can see the Mill Island as a green patch. The Mill Island belongs to the municipality of Old Town.

The Landshut Stadtpfarr was build by architect Hans Krumenauer almost six hundred and fifty years. With its exceptional surroundings and structure, there are mixed elements of high and late Gothic style, the church is one of the important monumental Gothic in southern Germany. The tower is tallest brick tower in the world and the highest church tower in Bavaria.

4. The Landshut Wedding

The Landshut Wedding

The Landshut Wedding is a historical festival that helds in summer and it is listed every four years in Landshut. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of Landshut marriage of Bavarian Duke George and Hedwig Jagiellon, Duchess of Bavaria, daughter of the Polish king Casimir IV. The wedding was also politically important.
