What to do and see in La Teste-de-Buch

La Teste-de-Buch is a French town, located in the Gironde department and in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the historical region of Gascony.

1. St Vincent Church

At the end of the fourteenth century, it was the chapel of Captaux Buch which occupies about a third of the current building. The church houses many artifacts that are or listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments: the chapel of the Virgin, the marble Baptistery, etc.

3. Lalanne Hotel

Lalanne Hotel

Building, in which today is Lalanne Hotel, was the home of many famous families of the Teste de Buch. It was owned by the son of Jean and Pierre, Lesca Hamlet and finally the family Lalanne who gave this building its name. In 1928, the city of La Teste inherited this house which is located in the town center. Buidling is inspired by a typical provincial architecture of the second half of the eighteenth century. It now houses the municipal library.

5. Tethys Villa

Tethys Villa

Tethys Villa was built in 1924 for George Droin. It is the most complex and the most monumental villa that was built by Roger Expert on the Bassin of d'Arcachon. Its name comes from the Greek goddess Tethys whose representation ceramic tile adorns the rotunda in front of the villa. The rear part of the building is elevated above ground level. Visitors will enjoy in the beautiful stream of water flowing from terrace to terrace garden.

2. Baleste Hotel

Baleste Hotel was built in the middle of the seventeenth century by Pierre de Baleste. Today, this mansion belongs to the family Dignac who restored it with the support of Historic Monuments. It is full of heritage treasures with its wood paneling, stairs and furniture. The hotel is accessible to the public during Heritage Days.

4. Bunkers

Bunkers

Dirung a walk along the ocean beaches of the Bay ata low tide, visitors can explore the traces left by the German army during the World War II. The Arcachon Basin has a special place in the Atlantic Wall because of its proximity to Bordeaux which had a very important port and a submarine base.

This small town with its twenty four and three hundred inhabitants is positioned in south western France, on the south shore of Arcachon Bay, It has many historical places and it is very interesting for tourist.
