Kaarst-5 things to do and see

Kaarst is a town in the Lower Rhine region and it has more tha forty two thousand inhabitants. The city covers an area of almost forty square kilometers, the smallest area in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Things to see in Kaarst are:

1. Old St. Martin's Roman Catholic Parish

Old St. Martin's Roman Catholic Parish

Romanesque Basilica of St. Martin Klein was built in the 11th century. Cemetery once was here. There are so many newly members of the church, and authorities built larger construction. It was extended to the east and west. After the Second World War, it was most visited church in Kaarst.

3. City Festival

City Festival

City festival has four large stages and over 100,000 visitors. It offers wide cultural program with many stars from Germany and all over the world. You can see street performers, charity stand and the firework for full enjoyment. Festival starts on Friday evening and continues until Saturday noon.

5. Tuppenhof

Tuppenhof

The Tuppenhof is a square yard. The monument, created its oldest parts in 1700, and it was repaired fifteen years ago. It turned into museum of farming history and culture. The museum shop offers local history museum literature for all those who wants to learn more about it. You can take a break at cafeteria too.

2. The Church of St. Aldegundis

The Church of St. Aldegundis

The Church of St. Aldegundis is located in the district of the city of Kaarst. The Romanesque church dates from the 12th century. It has true middle ages spirit. The church is located in the heart of the town.

4. Brown mill

Brown mill

The Brown mill is completely restored windmill built in Dutch type. At the present site, there were previously several mills made of wood. This tower windmill is renovated and it is in progress by wind power. Later, diesel engine was implemented. Since sixty years ago, mill is no longer in function. The mill is run by a charitable organization.
