1. Drachenfels
Drachenfels is a mansion from twelfth century built by the supervisor of Cologne. It is located behind the town. From the top, panoramic view is astonishing, even Lord Byron described it in his poem. By legend, cave is an habitat of an dragon, which is killed by Siegfried. The mountain has trachyte mines.
3. St. Remigius church
St. Remigius church , some little makes and a bit of delivery. It has a landmark to the artist Wolfgang Müller. It is reserved for all those who are interesting in religious designs, and who wants to learn more about its history.
5. The monastery Heisterbach
The monastery Heisterbach is the remnant of a former abbey located in the mountains. It lies between Oberdollendorf and Heisterbacherrott. This abbey was created in 1098 as a reform movement. Archbishop of Cologne Philip I was its leader. The name of the first abbot was Hermann but it was later renamed.
2. Petersberg
The Petersberg mountain is favourite tourist destination in this Germany town. It was home of monasteries in this part of town. This is its remains. Hotel Petersberg is on top of this mountain, place where you can see but not sleep over. It is reserved for top world leaders only.
4. Transport
The town has magnificent stations on the Rhine East Bank Railway in the middle of Cologne and Wiesbaden. It has alternate course through whole town. You can take a ride on the railway and enjoy view on landmarks and paysages around it.
6. The Siebengebirgs museum
The Siebengebirgsmuseum is a historical Museum founded in 1927. It has local history collection. It was closed during World War II. Exhibits include art work of geology, history and culture. Museum is, as every year, one the most visited touristic attractions. It has many display pieces since ancient times and this is something everybody wants to see.
Königswinter is located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the district of Rhein-Sieg. The city is situated at an altitude of couple hundred meters. It is spread on an area of almost eighty square kilometers. It offers so many attractive and splendid things to explore. You can learn new things about its history. You are welcome to visit it in any time of year and you will be back every year.
