What to see in Herford

Herford is a town in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany, spotted in the swamps between the hill chains of the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest. It is the capital of the region of Herford.

1. Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie

Herford is the seat of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie which performs frequently in the Stadtpark Schützenhof and numerous neighboring urban areas in North Rhine Westphalia. Eugene Tzigane is the chief conductor. The current chief is Andreas Kuntze.

3. Wilhelmplatz

The Wilhelm Platz is part of Herford art displays, which largely surrounded the Herford downtown area. On the Wilhelm Platz, there is a statue of Widukind popularly known Wittekind. He was Duke of Saxony and was in the region a symbol of resistance against Charlemagne in the Saxon Wars. Thousands of people are coming in a house where the so-called miracle healer Bruno Groening had allegedly cured a ill boy.

5. Neuer Markt

The New Market as the center of Herford Town is one of the most beautiful places in Herford and characterized by half-timbered houses and Renaissance architecture. The fountain shows a knight with sword and shield of the free imperial city of Herford. City fountain was rebuilt in 1962 at the old location. The former town hall is a stone gabled house with a medieval core. It was reconstructed twenty five years ago.

2. The Stadttheater

The Stadttheater has seats to over seven hundred viewers and it is served as main theater place. Herford is the area of the central command of the first theater displays in Germany and it is well known for amazing actor group. You can enjoy here in true acting and you will feel like you re-live the play.

4. Linne Bauer Place

The monument was inaugurated in 1909, and it shows the last Herford hand loom weavers. Until mid-1970s, there was a section with a mill and old and new towns separated. It is great place for whole family and place where you can learn something new.
