Things to see in Haltern

The city is located by the lake Haltern. It is spotted on the northern edge of the Ruhr territory between the Ruhrgebiet and Münsterland. Haltern belongs to North Rhine-Westphalia and it is a medium-sized region town of Recklinghausen area. Things to see in Haltern are:

1. St. Sixtus church

St. Sixtus church

Catholic church in the principle downtown crossing point in the Sixtuskirche. This congregation is the principle church and is spotted on square in the downtown area. It was manufactured by August Hanemann. It is a symbol of Middle Ages and it belongs to Romanesque style. Tower is very hight, and you will be amazed with its architecture.

3. Old Town Hall and Market Fountain

Old Town Hall and Market Fountain

The Old Town Hall was build in Renaissance style. After the war, it was reconstructed after structure was destroyed. Since then, it is now headquarters of its office and the tourist information center. It is place for social occasions and gatherings. The commercial center has dependably been a gathering spot for adolescent and old ones. The wellspring can been seen here which served until 1907 the water supply.

5. Kardinal-von-Galen-Park and Town Hall

Kardinal-von-Galen-Park and Town Hall

The Cardinal von Galen Park is a green desert garden on the edge of the old town. It takes its name from the recreation center of Münster Cardinal Clemens August Graf von Galen. Landmark was constructed in the Jubilee Year 1989. In that year park was made on the spot in the recreation center as a feature of a symposium. Between the City Hall and the School of Music police headquarters are located.

2. St. Anna

St. Anna

St. Anna church is devoted to St. Anne, is a sanctuary and church in Haltern at the lake on the 74.5 m high Sankt Annaberg. The church was initially formed in 1378. Annaberg was previously known as Königsberg. The present sanctuary was formed in the seventeenth century, when the Jesuits settled Annaberg.

4. Seven Devil's Tower

Seven Devil's Tower

Tower is city divider from the sixteenth century and it is true Haltern landmark. The lake with the "wrong track" helped today to remember the old channel that once encompassed the whole city. On the Carinthian place, around 30 meters from the tower, was from 1907 to 1945 Romano-Germanic Museum. This is taken after a commemoration plaque of the Association of Archeology at current parking garage.
