1. Santa Maria Di Castello
This church was built between the ninth and the tenth centuries on the top of the hill Sarzano. Inside, visitors can see the economic power of Genoa and the patronage of the most influential families in various parts of this religious complex. Today it is used as a museum with works of great art value. The frescoes of the Annunciation and the Virgin Mary are the best known artifacts in this complex.
3. The Palazzo Ducale
Palazzo Ducale is the former headquarters of the urban magistrates. It was built in the twelfth century and it has been renovated many times. Inside the building is the museum where visitors may see Chapel Ducale, the Grand Council, etc. Today the palace is the used for hosting exhibitions, concerts and conferences.
5. University of Genoa
This historical monument dates from the fifteenth century. This is a magnificent building with its imposing buildings, columns, moldings and colorful frescoes inside the classroom.
2. Genoa Cathedral
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is situated in the Plaza de San Lorenzo, near the Palazzo Ducale. This building dates from the twelfth century. The outside of the cathedral is all original, with stripes of white and gray marble. Inside the cathedral is "he museo del tesoro" which could be accessed through the sacristy.
4. Neptune Galleon
This is the famous ship in which Polanski recorded his movie "Pirates". Visitors may discover how pirates lived.
This area changed many rulers during its history and is the reason why it is full of artifacts and monuments. That is the reason why it the area of Genoa attracts many tourist.
