1. The Départemental Musée Of Gap
Devastated by the religious wars, Gap has only a few historical monuments, but for the impassioned, its museum exhibits many collections related to the history of the department. The Départemental Musée Of Gap was built in the beginning of XIXth century. It is located in the Parc de la Pépinière and it offers various exhibitions. The museum has also magnificent collection of ceramics, sculpted furniture and antique weapons.
3. Embrun
Embrun is a town with Celtic origins. It was the very important city at the time of the Roman Empire. In the fourth century, it became the seat of a bishop and a cathedral town.
5. Les ecrins national park
Les ecrins national park is a vast territory of 92,000 hectares. This park is registered by the European Council because it has three thousand varieties of plants, thirty mammal species and ninety species of nesting birds. National parks are truly priceless treasures not only for this part of France, but for the whole country as well. Green environments should be kept as private as always. This should be important not only for the Gap authorities but also for everybody.
2. The Domaine de Charence
The Domaine de Charence is located on the heights of Gap. It offers to all visitors a real breath of fresh air. In the middle of the garden of 220 hectares, lays a beautiful XVIIIth century building known as the Château des évêques. The garden has mroe then 1000 plants, including a unique collection of roses. Below the castle, visitors will find a beautiful lake.
4. The mountain of Ceuse
The mountain of Ceuse is located near Gap. It has excellent climbing routes ski resort. The 1,200 hectares size national forest offers the chance for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking trails. Mountains are very helpful for your health, it provide lots of fresh air and great walking paths where you can improve your condition.
It is difficult to vision any vacation without museums, parks and monuments. Whatever you need, you will get here. Some other interesting sites in this area its cathedral from XIXth century, Park Nursery, Notre-Dame and saint-Arnoux churches, Gateway Theater etc.
