1. Old Dubbo Gaol
It was a courthouse lockup in 1847 and today it is a home to a large display of holographs and animations that provides fascinating and realistic insight into era of barbaric life in prison. You can enjoy day or even night tours and wandering around unique collection of artifacts and learning the stories of prison life or even spending some time in the solitary confinement cell. Is is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm and if you want to enjoy the night tour, it must be arranged in advance.
3. Shoyoen Japanese Garden
These Japanese gardens in Dubbo were open to celebrate relations with sister city in Japan, Minokamo. Shoyen in Japanese language means refreshing and strolling. Besides many walking tours there is also one Wednesday Morning group who meet up in the garden and chat, enjoy morning tea and also walk around the garden. Entrance to garden is free and opening hours from Monday to Friday is 9 am to 4 pm and on the weekends from 9.30 am to 4,30 pm.
2. Taronga Western Plains Zoo
Some people say this must be the best zoo in the world. Kids will enjoy the special shows that are set on in various times of the day. here you can also get up close with a big cat, learn why hippos are such a good swimmers or even feed meerkats or giraffes in meal time. There are many African animals in the zoo and you can discover them behind the scenes.
Location of the town is in transition area and allows large temperature variations during the year with hot summers and also sub zero winters. So, be prepared for the climate conditions and visit Dubbo because things to do in Dubbo are various and fun for everybody.
