1. The Church of Lippe
The Church of Lippe has its headquarters placed in Detmold. The Reformed Redeemer Church is the proclaiming venue of the state administrator of the Lippe church. Around two miles to the southwest of Detmold is the Grotenburg. Germanic tribes crushed Roman armies under the charge of Publius Quinctilius Varus.
3. The Princely Residence Castle
The Princely Residence Castle was a mansion and after some time it is transformed in the sixteenth century into a palace of Weser Renaissance style. Its tower is the point of interest of Detmold. There are guided visits through the castle.They are in German, however you can get the content in English, French and Dutch. Lake behind the building is a must see. It is open every day from 10:00 to 16:00.
5. Westfalian Open Air Museum
The outdoors museum in Detmold is a place you must not skip. It is surrounded with numerous old houses that you can visit. In one building you even were permitted to touch everything and you could test how to lie in an old bunk. The outdoors historical center is huge. Small houses were assembled in the same way. There is a school here, an old shop and watermill and two windmills. There are a few spots where you can eat too.
2. Academy of Music and the Palais enclosures
The primary building of Acedemy of Music is the previous "Neuer Palais". Old building from 1718 served as habitat of the royal family. Behind this building Palaisgarten is placed, and it was developed in a floral style. There are many wellsprings and lakes to see.
4. Old town of Detmold
In Detmold you'll discover numerous pleasant buildings. It is a true historical center. At the commercial center, you can discover main medieval building that has survived the big fire in 1547. It looks like you traveled to the past and you entered some new dimension.
Detmold has huge historical value for Germany. Its specific style is generally attractive for tourists.
