1. Abercrombie Caves
The walls of this cave are decorated with solid masses of marble and they are also high lightened by the soft natural light. About the century ago the gold miners built a platform for dances. This platform is still there and is used as a stage for underground weddings and concerts. The caves are surrounded by Nature Reserve with about 1,400 hectare of native bush. Opening hours are from 9 am to 4 pm and the tickets prices depend on tours a visitor take.
3. Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum
There are many mineral and fossil galleries that allows you to travel through the time. Visitors also can see specimens discovered from deep within the earth. There are two main exhibitions - Minerals Gallery and MasterFoods Fossil Gallery. Opening times are from 10 am to 4 pm daily.
5. Bathurst Farm Experience
This is the place where you can experience village life and animals. You can feed animals like chickens, lambs and horses and learn about their use. Activities are usually booked in 90 minutes periods and 1 hours costs 50 dollars. Opening times are from 10,30 am to 4 pm.
2. Abercrombie House
It is the private home to Morgan family, but it's open on many days during the year for the guided and self guided tours. Visitors have to call ahead for opening hours and the house is completely closed in July and August. The heritage treasure includes 50 room Scottish mansion, displays, exhibitions, gardens and so on. There is also souvenir shop and throughout the year there are special events like concerts and high tea days.
4. Bathurst District Historical Museum
This museum offers insight to the history of the Bathurst town and the whole region. It gives changing and regular exhibitions on historically relevant themes of the region. Opening hours are from 10 am to 4 pm daily and entrance fee is 3 dollars for adults and 1 dollar for kids under 15 years old.
It also must be said that the median age of the town's population is 34 years, which is very young. Things to do in Bathurst are numerous and fun both for the adults and the kids.
