Auxerre is a city on the River Yonne in the area in the Burgundy region. Historically, the city owes its importance to its good position and location, but it is also on an important trade route between the Mediterranean and the North Sea. Auxerre is an interesting place to tour . Part of the city that most visitors interested in occupying a hill that starts from the western shores of the river , and includes the main church and the old town .

Within the cathedral, there is a fascinating crypt of the 11th century, where you can see the remains of the earlier cathedral on the same site as well as some very ancient frescoes.
