What to do and see in Armentières

Armentières is a town and municipality in northeastern France in the region Nord-Pas-de-Calais, it is a part of the community Lille. The city became part of France in 1668., As well as the rest of the smaller communities in France. In the late 19th and early 20th century Armentières became known as the "City of the factory." Industrial fever prevailed at that time, new factories were opened every day and Armentières became an important town in the French industry. Things to do in Armentieres are:

1. Les Prés du Hem

Les Prés du Hem was created in 1970. Artificial lake was intended to be a reserve of water, but this small lake is now a great tourist spot near Armentières. Green and healthy environment and gentle water conditions are great for athletes but there are also activities for families and passing tourists.

3. Armentieres City Hall

The Town Hall was renovated in the twenties, its stained glass windows are characterized by old industrial affairs of this city: weaving, spinning and making beer. City house offers a beautiful view of the city from the tower balcony.

2. Armentieres Castle

Another famous location in Armentières is Armantieres castle. It is located in a valley near the town. The castle was built in 1297 by the Knights.
