Alges is a small place with twenty-two thousand inhabitants on the west banks of the river Tejo. Alges is part of Lisbon which are generally found safe units. However, like other parts of Lisbon, Alges has many interesting tourist sites.

1. Tower of Belem (Torre de Belém)

Belem Tower is located at the forward section of the river Tejo. This fortress of gray color is a true copy of the buildings from the time of discovery, and as such is on the list of World Heritage Sites. Belem fortress was built in 1515 in order to effectively defend the harbor. This military building is very well preserved and is a real magnet for tourists. From the top of the Tower of Belem can enjoy a unique view from the height of the river Tejo and the entire local landscape. Sunset view from the tower is a unique experience for visitors.

3. Berardo Collection Museum (Museu Berardo colecção)

This is the best museum of contemporary art related to this sector. The building is ultra white and minimalist design. The museum is housed a permanent collection of works of abstract, surrealist and pop art art owned by millionaires Jose Berardo. Temporary exhibitions that display in this museum are also fabulous. In the museum are coffee shop, also reflects the beautiful lawn, bookstore and museum shop.

This is definitely one of the most impressive monuments from the time of discovery in this area.

2. Maritime Museum (Museu de Marinha)

Visit the maritime museum is a true sailing back in time with a view to the discovery of the former armada, models of ships, cannonballs, the remains of ships and loot carrying. Among other things, visitors here can see a portable wooden altar from the ship Vasco da Gama in the seventeenth century and polished the private quarters of the British royal yacht Amelia.
