1. VfL Ahaus
VfL Ahaus collects under one roof the following sports: basketball, handball, running, athletics, cycling, swimming, dancing, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics and volleyball. There are additional sports courses found in the "Health & Fitness" for members and non-members instead.
3. St. Mary Church
This church is called Church of the Assumption, and St. Mary's is a Catholic church building in Ahaus. The first Catholic church in Ahaus was built in the 14th century. The single building was destroyed in 1400 during a fire. Then a three-nave church was built, complete with preserved today 68 m high tower, which was built in the years 1498-1519. After the Gothic era nave was destroyed in a fire in 1863, the church was rebuilt as a three-nave.
2. Ahaus Castle
Ahaus Castle is a former residence of the prince bishops of Münster in Ahaus. Built in the early 11th century castle fell from the noble Lord of Ahaus in 1406 to the Prince-Bishop of Münster. There is a hunting lodge, designed by Ambrose of Oelde. After the destruction of the Seven Years War Johann Conrad Schlaun added large staircase. In March 1945, the castle was destroyed by a bomb attack and was completely gutted. After the war, the district Ahaus acquired the ruins.
4. Castor
Castor is an internationally registered brand name of the Society of Nuclear Services (GNS). Castor containers are special containers for storage and transport of highly radioactive materials, such as spent fuel from nuclear power plants or waste products from reprocessing. The transport container storage facility (TBL Ahaus) is an intermediate storage for strongly and weakly radiating radioactive waste. It is located in western Münsterland in the field of Ahaus.
Ahaus is interesting town to visit. Spend at least a week here if you want to have more time for everything.
