1. Palazzo Ducale
It was built sixth century by Francesco I d'Este, perhaps the most prominent, dynamic and ambitious member of the Ducale dynasty. This magnificent building was the work of a famous architect Bartolomeo Avanzini. Around the building is a huge park, which now spans to the foot of the hills. Today, Sassuolo palace is restored and opened to the public for events and exhibitions. The interior with its galleries and saloons is also beautiful it is worth a visit.
3. Piazza Garibaldi
This square has developed between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Its main symbols are the Civic Tower, also known as the bell tower, and portico built by the architect Pietro Bezzi . At his side is a stone built in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi and the passage of the Expedition of the Thousand. The Civic Tower was created in 1676.
5. Villa Giacobazzi
Villa Giacobazzi is elegant aristocratic residence for the summer holidays of the family Giacobazzi, one of the most influential families on the court. The oldest evidence of this building dates back to the second half of the seventeenth century.
2. Chiesa di San Giorgio
The church of St. George was a small rectory of the parish of Castellarano since the Middle Ages. The church of St. George as it is now , is a rare monument of pure Barocchetto, built in the middle of the eighteenth century according to the design of the Venetian architect Pietro Bezzi. The famous picture of Boulanger, the choir made by the classical architect Paltrinieri and the statue of the Madonna del Carmine from 1660 are some of the artifacts that are preserved from the old church.
4. Palazzina della Casiglia
This building was rearranged around the middle of the eighteenth century by the architect Pietro Bezzi . It is located near the river Secchia and it is surrounded by a very large park and walls. The palace has a magnificent dining room decorated with Chinese paintings, a personal room that was adapted to receive the Popes and numerous bedrooms . Today this property houses the headquarters of Confindustria Ceramica, with Centre for Documentation of Ceramics. Here you can trace the complete manufacture of the tile.
This area contains many artifacts and historical monuments and that is why it is very poplar among the tourist from whole parts of the Europe.
