Illkirch-Graffenstaden is a small town in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace region in north-eastern France. This town with is twenty six thousand and three hundred inhabitants is the second largest suburb of the city of Strasbourg. Illkirch-Graffenstaden is among the fastest growing cities in France. In the past Illkirch and Graf(f)enstaden were two separate villages. This town is a great connection of tradition and modern life.

Some panels also trace the history of the site that was part of the defensive belt of Strasbourg that consisted of nineteen military installations whose construction began in the late nineteenth century.
