1. Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca
The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca is visible from the entire city of Bologna as it stands on a ridge about three hundred meters above sea level, south-west of the historic center of Bologna. It is an important sanctuary in the history of the city of Bolognawith the sacred icon of the Virgin and Child.
3. Palazzo del Podestà
This building was built at the beginning of the thirteenth century, in the same time as Plaza Mayor as the headquarters for the Podesta family and its officials. It's a large building on the cross of with the Tower dell'Arengo. The tower's bell was used to warn the villagers in the case of danger. The lower part of the palace is decorated with hundreds of different floral tiles.
5. Palazzo Re Enzo
This building was constructed in the middle of thirteenth century as an extension of the buildings of the Palace del Podestà. Three years after its construction it became the residence of King Enzo. In the beginning of the twentieth century the building´s Gothic look was restored by Alfonso Rubbiani.
2. Basilica di Santa Maria dei Servi
This basilica was built in the middle of the fourteenth century as the Church of the Community Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was designed by Father Andrea da Faenza. The building is a hundred meters long and twenty meters wide and shaped like a Latin cross. The interior has three naves built with impact from Gothic style.
4. San Pietro Church
San Pietro Church is the old cathedral of Bologna. It was built in the nineteenth century in the beautiful Via de la Independencia. It has the magnificent baroque interior decorated with frescos.
This area is full of artifacts and historical monuments and that is the reason why it is popular among the tourist from whole parts of the World.
